The Badgers are Stockport's premier blues/rock band. Formed in early 2009 by well-known, local musicians Geoff Rees, guitar, and Phil Cawsey, bass, the Badgers completed their line-up with the addition of top, Stretford-based drummer, Steve Aitken.

 

Geoff and Phil have been stalwarts of the Manchester music scene since the early seventies when they first played together in bands such as Kelly, Last Resort, Teacher's Pet, Merlin, Niff Naff, Eric & the Frantics, Red Rock and The Blues Widows.

 

In June, 2010, Steve was replaced by experienced, Offerton-based drummer, Lestr Cooper. Lester played for many years with classic rock band ‘Sharp Edge’ and is also very well-known on the local blues/rock circuit.

 

The Badgers play originals and covers by bands from their youth such as The Spencer Davis Group, The Stones, Robben Ford, Cream, Free, Z.Z Top, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Joe Bonamassa, Tab Benoit, Steve Miller, Stevie-Ray Vaughan & Creedence Clearwater Revival.

 

An extremely hard-working band, The Badgers play all over the North-West of England and appear regularly in Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire as well as occasional forays into North Wales!

 

As well as demonstrating their musical virtuosity, the band’s performances always generate an entertaining atmosphere which rarely fails to entice their audience onto the dace-floor for some hard core boogieing!”
